Best in Show: Rackspace

Earlier this year I was fortunate to be able to serve as a judge for the 2014 ERE Recruiting Excellence Awards - the candidates, nearly every single one across the categories were outstanding and reignited the fire for me to find organizations that are doing HR, talent management, and talent fulfillment right. And one organization that's nailing it is Rackspace. Rackspace, for those unfamiliar with the organization is a major player in cloud solutions for companies big and small and a driving force in the world of open source, so it may come as little surprise that a tech focused company is doing some interesting things on the talent front, but I think it's safe to say that they're not just doing interesting things, but engaging, smart, and targeted.

Rackspace knows what kind of talent they need, but they also recognize that the idea of career and culture is more important than filling jobs. Employees are "rackers," the company is consistently found among the variety of top best places to work lists, and they do an outstanding job of illustrating their mission and purpose as a part of what they do in their talent acquisition efforts. For example:

And these are just a few of the examples of how the organization engages with potential and current employees, examples that other great places to work might want to consider as they look to recruit, retain, and reward top talent. Examples that I'm going to take back to my own team with the question of how can we do better? How can we push our message forward? How can we better engage? How do we position ourselves as the example employer for others?
